Are You Antibiotics Aware? Resources Support Antibiotic Stewardship Efforts
During U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (November 13-19), Health Quality Innovators (HQI) is supporting national efforts to raise awareness of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use. We invite you to join us by educating your community, your patients and your colleagues about this important topic. Together, we can protect patients and preserve the power of antibiotics for future generations.
Each year in the United States, at least 2 million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and at least 23,000 people die as a direct result of these infections. Many more people die from other conditions that were complicated by an antibiotic-resistant infection.
HQI is partnering with emergency departments, physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers and other outpatient facilities in Maryland and Virginia through our CARB-TASC initiative (Combatting Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria through Antibiotic Stewardship in Communities).
Below, you will find links to a variety of antibiotic stewardship resources that will support your efforts to implement the elements of outpatient antibiotic stewardship. Please use and share these resources so we can raise awareness and protect our patients.
