Riverside Medical Group Strives to Improve Cardiac Care

Heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death in Virginia. At the national and state levels, the Million Hearts initiative is promoting the importance of reducing cardiac risk factors. The initiative aims to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes by 2017.
Community providers across the Commonwealth are doing their part. In Virginia’s Tidewater region, Riverside Medical Group is using electronic health record (EHR) data to monitor cardiac risk factors and improve health within the communities they serve. As participants in VHQC’s Cardiac Learning Network, nearly 30 cardiology and primary care practices receive support in collecting and analyzing data from their EHR system.
