Press Release: VHQC is Now Health Quality Innovators
Organization Remains Focused on Health Care Quality
VHQC, a 32-year-old organization that was one of the first entrants into the now burgeoning field of health care quality improvement, has rebranded as Health Quality Innovators (HQI) effective October 17, 2016. According to executives at the non-profit consulting firm, the new identity better reflects the company’s expanding service area and talented team, plus provides greater clarity about its role in the evolving health care industry.
“The name Health Quality Innovators expresses our longstanding commitment to improving health care, as well as the fresh insights we bring to that challenge,” said HQI President and CEO Donald A. Glozer, MHA, FACHE. “Better care, healthier people and smarter health care spending are our primary aims.”
HQI offers hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and physician practices opportunities to learn from each other while working toward common goals that include decreasing infections, reducing avoidable hospital readmissions, lowering the risk of heart disease, using antibiotics wisely and making effective use of electronic health records. Improving health equity is an important aspect of HQI’s work, as is helping providers engage patients and families in making decisions and managing conditions.
Many of HQI’s services are funded by the federal government, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This allows the organization to provide performance data, improvement tools and quality coaching free of charge to qualified providers. HQI also offers consulting that is tailored to client needs.
About HQI Since 1984, HQI has been leading the way to better health care for providers and other clients by offering expertise in quality improvement, practice transformation, provider payment programs and electronic health record optimization. Better clinical performance, patient outcomes and cost savings are among the results. In addition to its role as the Maryland and Virginia Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization, HQI is a partner in two national Hospital Improvement Innovation Networks and is the Practice Transformation Network for Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.
